Our Team
Our team is comprised of combined plan students all with the same drive and ambition to develop the PreSpice. With strengths in every major field associated with this project, each member played a crucial role in the design, management, business development, software, and manufacturing of the PreSpice.

Sara Cummings
B.A. Physics
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
As both a creator and a communicator, Sara was key to the overall concept, design,  branding and manufacturing of the PreSpice. Her background as a Columbia MakerSpace Superuser and Graphics and Design Course assistant gave her a specialized skillset in both design and manufacturing. Along with David and Brandon, she participated in the Lean Launchpad, an intensive 1 week entrepreneurship course where they turned their engineering project idea into the PreSpice.

Connor Johnston
B.S. Physics
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
Connor’s main purpose on the PreSpice team is as a designer. With extensive knowledge of 3D modelling software. Connor is responsible for designing and simulating a majority of the features used in the PreSpice. Connor’s previous work experience as a Laboratory Assistant in Devlin Labs provided him with knowledge useful in the design and fabrication of parts.

Josh Katz
B.S. Physics
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
Josh is a programming mastermind. Because he is a vampire and half cyborg, he requires almost no sleep and has been known to work on the PreSpice at all odd hours of the morning. In addition to being responsible for all programming, Josh did a majority of the electronics design and spearheaded their creation. His background as a Mechatronics Course Assistant prepared him well for his various roles on the team. Overall, Josh is the true MVP, most valuable prespicer.

Brandon Kubick
B.A. Physics
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
With a background in business management, Brandon's main role in developing the PreSpice consisted primarily of business development, manufacturing, and troubleshooting. As a previous intern for the power generation team at PSI Engines, he paired his work between both the business management and engineering teams, utilizing his background in programming to develop a case for a 2019 price increase and an engineering analysis on product specifications to reach for in future generator development.

David Reyes
B.M. Music Performance
B.S. Mechanical Engineering
David focuses on the manufacturing and assembly aspects for the PreSpice. As a lead for the Columbia University Formula SAE team and as a Lab Assistant for the Mechanical Engineering Department, David's experience with multi-system projects allows for easy integration of hardware in the PreSpice. With a past in business development, David also brings insights of the consumer market to the team which can be seen through the aesthetic design of the device.
